ANN M. ROLLAND, AIA, LEED
Principal, Studio Director
Ann has been instrumental in the development of the firm's Cultural/Educational practice. As Studio Director, she oversees studio operations and strategies. Ann describes her approach to architecture as "creative logic." Her strength is her ability to blend astute analytical and organizational skills with creativity and spirit. Inquisitive and optimistic by nature, she questions the status quo, and tests alternative strategies. She is also a member of FXFOWLE's Steering Committee, collaborating with colleagues on establishing firm wide policies and procedures.
Ann’s current projects include a major addition and renovation to the Ramaz School in Manhattan’s Upper East Side. As Project Director and Designer Ann has been working with the Board and Administration of the Ramaz School and Congregation KJ on developing a long term master plan for their four building campus on the Upper East Side of New York. The goal of the plan is to assist the school and synagogue with defining a campus for the millennium and beyond that will support a modern orthodox education and congregation. In addition, she collaborated on the renovation of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine Levy Library. The goal of this project was to improve public spaces of the library and create new collaborative and individual opportunities for learning and social engagement. She is also Project Director of a new high school in the Hunters Point South Development in Queens for the New York City School Construction Authority.
Among Ann's many contributions in her tenure at FXFOWLE are the award-winning phased addition and renovation to the American Bible Society headquarters which received an Award of Merit from the New York State AIA, the development and implementation of master plans for the Spence School, LaSalle Academy, the Loyola School, Ramaz School, Grace Church School, and a new Science and Technology Center for LaSalle Academy. Ann was also the project architect for the expansion of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT.
Ann is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Architecture.
