Employee Expertise

At FXFOWLE, every employee embodies our values and sustainability expertise. 85% of our professional staff is LEED Accredited, including 100% of the partners. Our in-house “Team Green,” led by our Director of Sustainability, is the firm’s key resource for researching the latest technologies and advancements in sustainable design. The workgroup functions as an educational conduit across the architecture, interior design, and planning studios. Team Green members are integrated in every project, such that sustainability is not outsourced but inherent in all design decisions.

Customization

Our comprehensive and synergistic approach connects the many individual components of a project together to deliver a customized response. We don't simply subscribe to green checklists. Rather, FXFOWLE integrates the contributions of engineers, specialists, manufacturers, and R&D professionals into design solutions, in order to craft a unique response. In-house use of building performance modeling software contributes to our specialized solutions responsive to climate and context. This approach has led to cutting-edge innovation on projects such as the New York Times Building and a new LEED Platinum corporate headquarters in Pennsylvania.

Multi-Disciplinary Integration

Team integration and collaboration is inextricably linked to sustainable design strategies that are efficient, cost-effective, innovative, and beautiful, where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Modeled on the AIA IPD format, our holistic design process relies on people with both broad and specialized expertise who work openly and inclusively.  Unlike a traditional process, all team members are involved from pre-schematic design through project completion and post-occupancy evaluation.

FXFOWLE also understands the broad interconnections inherent to sustainable development. For this reason, we have helped found InTERRAction, a consortium of experts from Architecture, Climate Forecasting, Communications, Environmental Science, Law, Management Consulting, and Engineering, who have joined together to help organizations address climate change and other environmental issues.
