Lincoln Center North Plaza

New York, NY

Client: Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
Completion: 2009

FXFOWLE Architects in collaboration with Diller Scofidio + Renfro have created new landscape elements in the Lincoln Center North Plaza providing ‘green’ on the City campus and an oasis for students and public to congregate. The lyrical design of the 10,000-square-foot urban lawn features a gently torqued green slope juxtaposed with a planar reflecting pool. The lawn forms the roof of a signature restaurant and creates a dynamic and unique fusion of architecture and urban landscape. The iconic reflecting pool with its Henry Moore sculpture completes the plaza composition. A closely clipped bosque of trees, reminiscent of those in many French gardens, stands next to the pool creating an intimate venue for performances during the day or evening.
