Lincoln Center Street of the Arts

New York, NY

Client: Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts
Completion: 2009
Area: 16 acres

As Lincoln Center’s 50th anniversary celebration approached in 2009, the world’s leading performing arts center embarked upon a major transformation to modernize and revitalize the public spaces, and overall environment of the 16-acre campus. A vibrant ‘cultural corridor’ on 65th Street will encourage the interaction of artists, students, faculty, and the public. The redesign and architectural changes creates a contemporary urban language celebrating the vitality of this cultural icon, while also embracing the spirit of the original 1960s architecture. New video blades will present the Lincoln Center constituent activities to the city, while a new Film Center and restaurant will enliven the street. FXFOWLE, in collaboration with Diller Scofidio + Renfro, is also working together on North Plaza, Alice Tully Hall Renovation, The Rose Building, and the Juilliard School.
