Milano Graduate School at The New School

FXFOWLE was commissioned by The New School to create a home for the Milano Graduate School at 72 Fifth Avenue. This relocation allows the school, for the first time in its history, to have a distinctive campus location and presence. The project’s program stresses that the new facilities should increase communication and collaboration across departments and have a “professional look that reflects Milano’s unique and nontraditional position among policy and management schools.” The design features glass and other translucent materials, maximizing open space with exposure to the Fifth Avenue windows, and creates informal meeting areas and natural gathering spaces. The offices are planned around flexible modules to allow for ease of growth and change.
