FXFOWLE is working on several major transit projects, actively serving as pioneers of NYCT's Design for Environment (DFE) Program. For the 7 Line Extension project, FXFOWLE is developing sustainable design options, such as reduction and streamlining of station forms, installation of more efficient systems, heat extraction methods, recyclable metal roofs, and reduction and reuse of excavation. As the architects on a diverse multi-disciplinary team for the Second Avenue Subway Line, FXFOWLE is helping to create the completely new transit line.  As the leaders of the DFE program for the project, FXFOWLE has developed a systematic DfE Management Matrix which, for the first time, has given NYCT a framework on which to build its DfE initiatives in all projects.
