The Reuters Building, part of the public/private 42nd Street Redevelopment Corporation’s master plan, serves as the North American headquarters for the international news corporation and a crucial link between Times Square and the newly revitalized 42nd Street District. Comprised of offices, newsrooms, a television studio, and a trading floor, the structure rises above the Crossroads of the World as a composition of interlocking planes and volumes, capped with a fin of stainless steel mesh, visible from Central Park. A series of 30-foot high video monitors broadcast Reuters programming into Times Square, while a fourteen-story high vertical LED sign conveys daily news with a variety of colors and intensities. At the corner of 42nd Street, a seven-story drum gracefully turns the corner and forms a three-story lobby.
