Hoboken Terminal and Rail Yard Redevelopment Plan
Hoboken, NJ
Client: City of Hoboken
Completion: 2009
Area: 36 acres
FXFOWLE has been engaged by the City of Hoboken to work with the City, NJ Transit, and their designated developer, LCOR, to prepare a joint redevelopment plan for the Hoboken Terminal and Rail Yards. The purpose of the plan was to define a strategic approach for developing the site that supports transit operations and the community from an economic, environmental and urban design perspective. All these elements inform the plan. To achieve these objectives, the plan evaluates existing conditions, identifies opportunities and constraints, considers alternatives, and builds consensus through an objective evaluation of alternatives. The final plan includes 9.2 millions square feet of mixed use development, 8 acres of new parks and plazas, a landscaped Observer Highway, traffic improvements, new infrastructure and bike paths.
