Avaya headquarters
Basking Ridge, NJ
Client: Avaya Communications
Completion: 2001
Area: 4,500 sf
After relocating its headquarters into a typical early 1980's office park in Somerset County, AVAYA Communications desired a dramatic upgrade reflecting its high-tech identity. The architectural charge was to convey the excellence of the company's services through the incorporation of new programmatic elements in the entrance sequence—including way-finding, security, reception and 'branding.' A glass wall, supported by 36'6" high suspended glass structural fins—tapered near the ground and capped with an innovative glass return—is a powerful architectural device. With its well-placed interventions, this project is a model of successful re-imaging and reuse of the suburban office type.
