Jacob k. javits convention center
New York, NY
Client: Empire State Development Corporation
Completion: 2013 (Project I)
Area: 1,369,000 sf
Located on the far west side of Manhattan, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center is New York City’s primary venue for trade shows and conventions with approximately 70 events per year. The conceptual plan includes reworking the overall site, revitalizing and updating the building enclosure, and renovating the interior exhibition space, meeting rooms, service areas, support space, and food service areas. The architectural redesign creates a contemporary environment with improved venues and areas for human interaction and social gathering. The project is designed to achieve a LEED Silver Rating. Natural light, trees, and greenery will create a more pleasing setting for each attendee. Over a million people visit New York each year to attend an event at the convention center, supporting the city’s hotel, restaurant, tourism, and entertainment industries. FXFOWLE is collaborating with Epstein on this project.
